Ushizu-juku
Ushizu-honmachi, Ushizu-cho, Ogi City, Saga Prefecture
Group of Traditional Buildings
The goods that were unloaded at Ushizu, a town of thriving business, were taken down the Nagasaki Kaido and transported across a wide area. Along the road here there still remain Shomanji Temple, used as a wakihonjin or alternative place of accommodation for people of high standing, as well as a statue of Ebisu, a god of luck, and roku jizo (six bodhisattva statues of the god of travelers).
