Kogiku Manju

Folk Techniques
Kogiku Manju appeared in the late Taisho period (in the mid-1920s), the mid-1920s, when Fujita Otokichi sold steamed buns along the roadside as a side business to his fishing enterprise. The bite-size cakes contain white tebo bean paste or adzuki bean paste made with sugar, which are wrapped in a dough made from rice powder and ground yam.
